Why Does an Upload Form Reject PNG Files?
A website can reject a perfectly valid image because its upload validator only accepts certain MIME types or file extensions. If the error mentions format rather than dimensions or KB, converting formats is the right fix.

Changing PNG to JPG may also reduce file size, but the primary fix is the output format. Do not waste time resizing unless the portal reports a dimension problem too.
Transparency will be flattened
JPG does not support transparency. Choose a suitable background color before conversion if the PNG contains transparent areas.
Verify the extension and MIME type
Use a true JPEG export rather than simply renaming .png to .jpg. Renaming the extension does not change the encoded file.
