How to Fix an “Unsupported Image Format” Upload Error
HEIC, AVIF, WebP and even PNG can be rejected by older upload systems that only accept JPG. The correct response is format conversion, not random compression.

Look for JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP in the form instructions. Convert to one of the accepted formats before changing dimensions.
Keep a copy of the original
Conversion can be lossy. Preserve your original HEIC, PNG or AVIF and create a submission copy for the portal.
Then handle KB and pixels
After format conversion, validate any separate file-size or pixel-dimension limits. Upload systems often enforce several rules at once.
