How to Compress an Image to a KB Range

Some portals specify a range such as 20–50 KB instead of only “under 50 KB.” That changes the job: the output must satisfy two byte thresholds, not one.

Why a maximum-only compressor is not enough

A normal compressor stops as soon as the file is below the ceiling. For a size range, you also need to verify that the result did not become too small.

Use JPG for predictable range control

JPEG quality gives a useful compression range for photos and signatures. Batch Img Tools can also pad a valid JPEG when the visual content is already too small to reach the minimum without changing pixels.

Keep the portal rules editable

The same form may change its limits over time. Treat 20–50 KB or 10–20 KB as presets, not universal standards.
